Expanded Metal Mesh – Electronic Products
Expanded metal mesh in electronic products is characterized by its ability to conduct energy and provide dust protection. With uniform mesh openings, it serves as a shield and barrier, and the metal mesh layer can effectively conduct electrical or thermal energy.
Application Areas
-
Electronic Products – Batteries:
Such as battery current collection network.
Used as battery current collectors. Battery electrodes made from aluminum, nickel, or copper are welded onto the metal mesh, functioning at the ionic interface inside the battery to generate electricity and extend battery life. -
Electromagnetic Wave Barriers:
Such as electromagnetic/radio interference barriers.
Used for electromagnetic (EM) or radio frequency interference shielding. The conductive metal layer forms a Faraday cage that effectively blocks electromagnetic fields from entering the interior, isolating electric fields and electromagnetic interference inside and outside the cage, creating “electrostatic shielding.” Since the metal layer is at equal potential, no voltage difference exists, ensuring safety inside. -
Heat Transfer / Cooling Devices:
Metal mesh is lightweight with excellent thermal conductivity. When exposed to direct sunlight, the metal temperature rises, causing the air beneath the mesh to rise as well, which draws in cooler surrounding air through the mesh openings, reducing ambient temperature.
-
Dust Protection:
Used as protective mesh covers on electronic devices, speakers, and microphones. The uniform openings prevent dust ingress while maintaining an attractive appearance.
